Your Child's Safety & Privacy

We know how important it is to understand who is photographing your child, how consent works and what happens to their images afterwards. Child safety, privacy and respectful photography are central to the way Blue Wolf Photography operates.

Consent First We never photograph a child without verified consent.
🔒
Secure Galleries Your child's images are protected through secure, password-protected galleries.
Child Focused Our photographers respect each child's comfort, boundaries and cues.
🗑
Image Control Parents and guardians can request deletion of their child's images.

Photography you can feel comfortable with

Blue Wolf Photography works within early learning centres, kindergartens and schools. When we enter these environments, we recognise that we are participating in a child-safe setting with a shared duty of care.

Our approach is designed to protect the physical, emotional, cultural and digital safety of every child we photograph.

Keeping Children Safe on Photo Day

Our photographers work alongside your child's educators and follow clear child-safety requirements.

Who supervises children during photography?

Your child's education or care service maintains responsibility for supervision of children at all times.

Blue Wolf photographers do not assume responsibility for child supervision. We work collaboratively with educators and follow the service's site-specific child safety requirements.

What requirements do your photographers follow?

All photographers working on behalf of Blue Wolf Photography must:

  • Hold a valid Working With Children Check.
  • Use company-approved photography equipment.
  • Follow our Child Safety & Photography Policy.
  • Respect children's comfort, boundaries and cues.
  • Never photograph a child without verified consent.
What if my child doesn't want their photo taken?

Our photographers are required to respect children's comfort, boundaries and cues throughout the photography process.

A parent's consent allows photography to take place, but it does not mean a child's discomfort should be ignored.

If a child is uncomfortable or does not want to participate, our photographers will respect their response.

How We Protect Your Child's Images

Children's photographs are treated as sensitive data and protected throughout our photography and ordering process.

Secure from camera to gallery

Children's images and personal information are protected through secure infrastructure, encrypted storage and transfer, password-protected galleries and controlled staff access.

Who can access my child's photos?

Online access to a child's images is restricted to authorised parents or guardians.

Parents and guardians may choose to share their gallery access with extended family at their own discretion.

How are my child's images stored?

Children's images and personal information are protected using professionally managed secure data infrastructure.

Our security measures include:

  • Encrypted data storage and transfer.
  • Password-protected online galleries.
  • Role-based access controls.
  • Secure, professionally managed data centres.
  • PCI-compliant payment gateways for transactions.
How long do you keep my child's photos?

Children's images and associated personal information are securely retained for 24 months.

Financial records such as purchases, invoices and transaction information are retained separately for seven years to meet financial record-keeping requirements.

Keeping financial records does not affect your right to request deletion of your child's images.

Can I ask for my child's images to be deleted?

Yes. Parents and guardians can request deletion of their child's images.

Image deletion requests are actioned within 10 business days.

User account information may take up to 30 days to fully deactivate due to platform processes.

Request Image Deletion
What happens to images on photographers' equipment?

Blue Wolf Photography maintains deletion protocols for photographer equipment.

  • Camera memory cards are cleared monthly.
  • Photographer laptops are cleared annually.
Do other companies ever handle my child's images?

Trusted third-party providers may be used where required for services such as secure hosting, printing or order fulfilment.

Providers are vetted for compliance with child safety and privacy requirements. Further details are available on request.

Marketing, Image Use & Communications

Photography consent does not automatically give us permission to use your child's image for advertising or promotional purposes.

Your child's photographs are not automatically marketing material.

Permission for Blue Wolf Photography to photograph your child as part of their school, kindergarten or early learning photography session does not give us permission to use their image for advertising, social media, website content or promotional purposes.

If we would like to use an identifiable image of your child for marketing or promotional purposes, we will contact you separately and request your explicit permission.

Will my child's photos be used on social media or in advertising?

Not simply because you have consented to photography.

Your photography consent allows us to photograph your child and provide the resulting images through our photography service. It does not automatically give Blue Wolf Photography permission to use those photographs for advertising, social media, website content or other promotional purposes.

If we would like to use an identifiable photograph of your child for promotional purposes, we will contact you directly and ask for separate, explicit permission.

Is marketing permission separate from photography consent?

Yes.

Consent for your child to participate in their photography session is separate from permission to use their image for marketing or promotional purposes.

Choosing to purchase photographs, accessing your online gallery or providing photography consent does not automatically provide marketing permission.

Can I opt out of marketing emails?

Yes. Parents and guardians may opt out of marketing communications at any time.

You may still receive operational communications that are required to provide your photography service. These may include:

  • Gallery access information.
  • Order confirmations.
  • Delivery and dispatch updates.
  • Important information relating to your photography session or order.

These service communications are separate from promotional or marketing messages.

What if I previously gave marketing permission and change my mind?

You can contact us if you would like to withdraw previously provided permission for promotional use of your child's image.

We will stop future promotional use by Blue Wolf Photography wherever reasonably possible.
